KST New Menu

What’s new at the King Street Tavern? Well the 18th-century pub that is famous for being a genuine smokehouse and passionate about bringing smoked, BBQ meats to the heart of Southsea, mixed with a wide range of craft beers and ales is mixing things up a bit. If ribs are your thing you must go and try them here, but the new menu offers so much more now and I for one am really pleased!

Antica Bread And Pasta

Walking in the door of Hunter-Gatherer I expected to see a 50-year-old Italian there to greet me for my pasta class which I was going to be part of for the evening. I don’t know why I had this idea in my head! Spending a few weeks talking over Instagram gave me these preconceptions and I always think of someone who has such a passion for bread and pasta to be Italian but this is not true. Instead, Lorin who is smart, handsome and is only 29 years old stood before me with a whole world of knowledge and has crammed so much into his life already!

Bangerz n Brewz

The walls are bare brick and industrial fittings. The tables and lockers are lit with neon and hanging light bulbs; local artwork is splashed across the walls and ceiling whilst the industrial sauce dispenser fits perfectly alongside the custom bar. It’s one of those places that oozes cool and feels like a backstreet New York joint you only know if you know … y’know?

Becketts Southsea

For a very long time, Becketts stood as one of Southsea’s favourite go to restaurant, building a strong reputation. So, when Soraya and Jason Parker took over the pretty grade II building in 2016 on Bellevue Terrace, they didn’t quite realise the extent of the work they were going to do over the next 2.5 years. The couple both fell in love with the idea of a modern eatery in a great location but what seemed like a small renovation turned into a huge project!

Festival Wellbeing Tips

Let’s face it if you’re larging it up at a festival – you’re more than likely going to be pretty haggard the next day – unless you’re sensible & don’t drink, gasp!  As much as I would like to pretend I am an angelic little being, I love a ‘few drinks’ every now & then as much as the next person.

So, without sounding like your Mum, here are my top tips on going to a festival & still feeling fabulous… or at least preserving a shred of your health & wellbeing!

Southsea Festival

What a weekend planned for the 14th and 15th July with the Southsea Food Festival that has been going now for 12 years and has just grown each year to be such a great event with a buzzing atmosphere.  Offering a real celebration of food for the whole 2 days, it is a chance to see the local food businesses we have step outside of their shops and produce some really mouthwatering festival food! With over 60 stalls and lots planned for both days, if you love food and a touch of gin you know it is somewhere you need to head down to.
