Music is hitting the town in our very cool Pie and Vinyl shop on Castle Road on the 8th February. Field Music will be locking down the shop for a live session which is free to the first 60 people. Our advice is to get down there early and queue or jump to the front with guaranteed access if you pre-order the vinyl before the event. All we can say at Southsea Folk HQ is that if Wolf Alice is anything to go by it's going to be a great atmosphere!
Southsea Deli opens its doors for the first time this month. There has been huge excitement around this as Daniel James Nowland is the person creating a cool food environment. Having been a chef and lover of all things food-related, he has spent the past eight years working in Jamie Oliver’s Food Team as his expert in food quality. Whilst tickets to Daniel's supper clubs are like gold dust, this opening is his first retail venture and is situated at the top of Victoria Road South, on the corner of Elm Grove. It will be a shrine to food and drink from local producers. Daniel will be baking daily, producing an ever-changing selection of salads and sandwiches, as well as selling special products he has sourced from his travels over the last 10 years. It's the ideal place for a coffee and a snack, as well as picking up some special bits for supper. With lots of events planned for the Spring, this place is one to watch.
No6 Cinema has some great screenings in the month of February and one that everyone keeps talking about is The Greatest Showman. Being shown on the 10th February. It has had great reviews and lots of talk about this film.
Also on the 10th February is the Curio Southsea that brings together an indoor market showcasing local recognised talent offering creative gifts at affordable prices.
Portsmouth Bookfest is going to be heading to Southsea Coffee for Typewriter Tales on Wednesday 21st February where you can drop in for a free writing session and try out a typewriter. Cake and Coffee will be served along with some great creative skills from the likes of William Sutton and resident artist of the cafe Los Dave. Although free it is a ticketed event and check out the details on Facebook and social media.
Friday the 23rd February sees the Sea Dog Print Studio celebrate its first birthday by having demonstrations, a DJ, drinks and print your own items. All visitors are welcome.
Ginger and Peach Supper Club is back on the 28th for another fabulous evening. Last month it had sold out in a few short days so make sure you plan your tickets.
Every Wednesday night at the Makers Guild you can pop along to their Meet and Make evening from 5pm. It looks so much fun and based at the Guildhall means its very local to get to.
Whatever you decide to do this February have a fun time!
