Here at Southsea Folk we aim to capture and celebrate the essence of the creative local community.

Our print publication features artistic portraits of inspiring local folk in their environments. Our podcast aims to bring cultural stories and the personalities of the guests we source weekly so you can listen any time of day, whether that be in the car, while relaxing, or catching up with chores!  Here on our website/blog we act as roving reporters and feature content about what’s on, what’s new, and the places we love. So, who are ‘we’?

Louise O’Brien

Magazine and Online Editor Plus Podcast Host – Lou is the boss when it comes to online content. She is great at dreaming up competitions and events. From setting up the website and working on the brand of Southsea Folk to bringing Southsea its very own independent awards, Lou is constantly looking to evolve the brand and be as creative as possible. Working with John on the podcast has been so much fun especially over lockdown in a year when we all had to stay at home a lot more than we ever could have dreamed of. The new phase of Southsea Folk will be more creativity in design, photography and videography as well as social media to keep telling the local stories and cultural news about the area. Loving art and interiors Lou can be found with her head in a design book or heading to a new art exhibition!

Resident Photographer – I knew I wanted Johnny on the Southsea Folk magazine projects as his design approach to photography is inspiring. Having such a humble nature he doesn’t shout about himself; he just likes his work to shine. Photography is a hobby that Johnny really takes to another level with the expertise he brings to it.
