Preparations are underway and the smell of spray paint is still quite strong down on the corner of Albert Road, ready to greet fans of the resident artists at the Corner Collective.
The last 3 years have seen amazing work that has sold out including Fark and Mook Loves You collaboration of their Christmas print. I always love this show as the artists really do pull out the stops to come up with new ideas and products to delight Christmas shoppers.
This year is no exception with Pogo already releasing on his socials his new work planned for the weekend. Speaking to the artist, he said, “In the delicate dance of ink and paper, I present to you a new series of lino prints, where female forms blossom amidst a tapestry of flowers. They are a symphony of bold lines and tender details.”
Visitors can expect a wonderful visual display of art to buy as well as a chance to look around the artist studios. After the success of opening them at the POSE weekend, The owner Fark decided it was a nice addition to the show. Being able to see all the back areas has been a huge highlight of the POSE arts trail for me as I saw the hard work put into bringing the studios alive. It was the first time the public had access to these areas. If you haven’t been and had a look yet then now is your chance. Speaking to Fark, he said, “The Christmas Show is the last one of the year and it is always a rad show! And I love a mince pie!”
The atmosphere is always amazing at the Christmas show, and there is excitement that fans of the artists have saved up some money to head on down and treat themselves and their loved ones to some quirky art and gifts.
After the success of the recent solo show, I am eager to see what work will be on display by Roo Abrook. I loved her new jewellery range and managed to bag myself a necklace a few weeks ago at POSE. Mook Loves You surprised and delighted fans with new hand drawn pieces of art so it will be nice to see what new ideas he has come up with.
Midge has recently joined as a resident artist after the incredible solo show she created at the gallery a short while ago. Everyone fell in love with her perspex tag art pieces, and they were a good price. Hopefully, there will be some more of these designs again at the weekend.
Chatting to resident artist, Midge, she said, “This has probably been The Corner Collective’s most defining year with exceptional talent coming through the doors! I’m excited to be a part of the final show of the year with some of the gallery’s most well-known faces and creations. I’ve been squirrelling away on some new work, getting covered in ink and falling in love with winter and the quiet process of creating from the heart.”
Head on down to the opening of the show on Friday the 29th of November at 6pm until 9pm or visit the gallery over the weekend and the whole of December for the usual opening hours.
