If getting away is not possible over the Summer then don’t despair! You live in such a vibrant place that you can still have fun now that lockdown has eased. Southsea has that wonderful holiday vibe all year round so you can feel like you are on holiday most of the time.
Southsea Beach Cafe has opened its doors again and wknds are fun sitting on the beach with food from the BBQ area at the back and ordering fab cocktails from the hatch, or you can now eat inside and on the beach terrace which has good social distancing in place. Island Feather have teamed up with SBC to offer paddleboard hire, go check them out!
Coastguard Studio has built a brand new terrace where wknds see Coastguard Sessions offering table service, grazing platters, and jazz from 12 until 7pm Fridays and Saturdays. Opening 12pm till 5pm on Sundays.
All along the seafront, there are food vans popping up, and one our favourites is Natty’s Jerk Kitchen residing from Thursdays until Sunday evenings, providing the best flavour and taste from the Caribbean with Natty’s famous Jerk Chicken.
The Briny has opened it’s doors so you can have a fantastic stroll and pop there for great seafood which is sourced locally!
Taking a daily trip over to the Isle Of White via the hovercraft is fun for the kids and offers wonderful activities on the island.
Travel to Milton and visit The Brewer’s Tap which belongs to The Southsea Brewing Co (Portmsouth’s first micropub) where you can try some of the best ale and stout while offering support to a local brewery.
Our favourite eateries are opening their doors and offering the government 50% off food discount so check out SM for places like Becketts and Parade Tea Rooms for more details on lovely food at great prices!
Take a stroll visiting the new shops that have opened. Coastal Remedy on Marmion Road offers lovely prints, interiors as well as balancing products like skin care and sweet candles. The Southsea Deli has opened its new premises on Elm Grove offering a beautiful setting with the famous big table but more produce and bigger food counters for all your culinary needs. The package Free Larder is a great experience delighting customers with amazing containers to buy and fill with shampoo’s and conditioners which will make your bathroom look pretty as well as not having any nasty chemicals in which means your hair will look and smell amazing! They also sell food like flour, oats, and baking ingredients.
The Southsea Bathing Hut has opened the Lagoon which means you can pop by for that well needed back massage and then potter across the road to the newly opened Pigeon Books. A well thought out literary space with great titles and even the kid’s section has delightful books!
The Sherlock’s Bar has opened on Clarendon Road and created great themed nights as well as Quiz night on a Wednesday evening. Having teams of no bigger than 3 means you can have a social distance fun night without the worry of feeling cramped.
These are just a few of the amazing places and eateries we have on our doorstep! So head out and enjoy 🙂
