April has been a funny old month, sometimes glorious sunshine and then torrential rain that kind of sets you back a little. The good news is that with so many events happening locally, whatever the weather you can find something to attend.

15th/16th April Southsea Eyes Round Tower
The amazing self-taught lino cut artist from Southsea is delighting crowds this wknd as a guest artist at the Round Tower by Hotwall Studios. You can pop along to see the talented work that Nusye does with demonstrations of her work at hand and products to buy like handmade prints, you will have a fab time visiting this ancient tower!
15th /16th April and 21st/22nd/23rd New Shoots Artspace Portsmouth
An exhibition of works by ASP studio holders and off-site members that celebrate the onset of spring and new beginnings. There are new offsite members that have added work to this exhibition which makes it one not to miss!
16th April Hotwall Studios Old Portsmouth
The delightful Open Studios is back this Sunday with the Canteen Cafe open and a chance to walk along the new promenade makes this a nice day out! Hotwall Studios bring artists and designer-makers together in an exceptional heritage location, to start and grow their creative ventures in an environment of mutual support, creativity and innovation.
Open Studios showcase some of the city’s brightest creative talent. With a range of artists and designer-makers working in our studios, you will be able to watch artists at work and purchase or commission professional pieces.
16th April Southsea Castle Makers Market
This Sunday sees Southsea Castle bring a Makers Market to the seafront!
Hosting an exhibition and sale of original work from local artists, designers, makers and crafters plus free entry to the Southsea Castle Museum entices even more to do. The Courtyard Bar and Restaurant will also be open for breakfast, and lunch as well as a chance to have tea and cake, what’s not to love?
16th April Croxton’s Palmerston Road
From this Sunday, Croxton’s are bringing their Sunday Sunset Sesh to Palmy Road with live music from 6pm. Andy Muscat is starting the whole season off with a bang and playing until 8pm. With a cocktail happy hour on from 6pm until 7pm there is no excuse to not pop down and have a chilled time.
17th April Doodle Quest Meat And Barrel
Join the crew on a noble quest to doodle, drink and socialise their way through an evening full of art and wonder…..and alcohol.
Bring your pencils, markers, charcoals, brushes, crayons, eggshells and whatever else inspires you to create!
Or don’t? can provide, paper and art supplies for everyone.
Anyone can join! Bring family, friends, strangers from the street, dogs and ghosts from the past, all are welcome. On from 7pm on Palmerston Road.
19th April Portsmouth Creates Networking Event Outside In Portsmouth
Portsmouth Creates brings its second networking event next Wednesday and allows you to join experts in Communications, Marketing and Social Media.
Meet with other creatives and artists and make connections. Starts at 5pm until 7.30pm. Outside In is a food court on Middle Road opposite the Eldon Building.
20th April The Aspex Gallery Gunwharf Quays
There is a preview evening of the new exhibition Group Show, and offers an exclusive first look ahead of its official opening.
Group Show paints a picture of who makes our communities. It explores how diverse communities can intersect and coexist, bringing attention to the power of togetherness.On from 6pm until 8pm and a chance to meet the artists involved from 5.30pm with a view to network and browse, the Port Coffee cafe will be open for alcohol and soft drinks so a perfect opportunity to have a nice cultural exploration at your local gallery! 22nd April Flower Power Yellow Edge Gallery Gosport
Fancy a ferry across the water to Gosport? Well, the fab Yellow Edge Gallery has a new exhibition which is an open exhibition called Flower Power is a set of artworks by 39 local national artists celebrating the power of flowers and the many ways of expressing their beauty through art. Starts on the 22nd April until the 14th May. This PV starts at 6pm until 8pm. See more info here
24th April Shake Your Glass Makers Guild
Come along and learn how to cut and assemble glass to create decorative items of your choice. Examples of what you could make in a full day include…a set of 4 coasters and a suncatcher
