Want to learn how to taste beer like a pro, or just fancy trying six craft beers from some of the coolest breweries?
There are some fantastic craft beers being made in the UK right now, with the range growing by the week. So we’re really excited about a new event being organised by one of our fellow bloggers The Portsmouth Foodguide.
‘Battle of the Beers’ takes place at Southsea coffee shop Hunter Gatherer in Albert Road on Thursday 11 May and whether you know a little or a lot about beer, you’ll be made very welcome.
Three beers from South Coast breweries will go head to head against three from further north in a blind-tasting. North v South – who wins? You decide on the night!
You’ll get a generous sample of 6 beers along with tailored tasting notes, with which you’ll learn how to taste and compare beers like a pro (if you don’t already!)
Each of the breweries have been chosen because they bring something different, and the beers will range from hoppy little numbers, to big and thick imperial stouts.
This will be the first beer tasting to take place at Hunter Gatherer since before the pandemic, and The Portsmouth Foodguide hopes to build on the success of the previous events by the Southsea Ale Club, who have kindly loaned their glasses for the evening.
Tickets are keenly priced with the objective being to cover costs rather than make a profit, and we reckon the £20 price compares favourably with other boozy tasting events across the city!
The tickets are available online via Hunter Gatherer’s website here, or you can pick them up at the venue for cash.
The event begins at 7pm, but there’ll be a cash bar open from 6pm if you fancy heading over for a cheeky one first.
