Battle of the Beers is back! Following a successful first event in May, Battle of the Beers is back with a special summer session!
Organised by our fellow bloggers @Portsmouth Foodguide this one takes place on the evening of Thursday 13 July and the theme this time is ‘Experimental Beers’.
Attendees will be treated to generous tastings of six new and modern craft beers from around the country and further afield and, whether you know a little or a lot about beer, you’ll be made welcome.
“Each of the featured tipples is made with modern-style techniques, hops or yeasts”, says James from Portsmouth Foodguide. “There’ll be something for everyone – from sours to modern British lagers and even wild-fermented beer!”
You will receive printed tasting notes for each of the beers and be guided through the tasting by a local Southsea beer expert. You’ll also have the opportunity to vote for your favourites at the end of the evening, awarding points for elements such as appearance, smell, mouthfeel and aftertaste.
The first event received a lot of positive feedback, with attendees praising the fun and friendly atmosphere, knowledgeable team and value for money. So we reckon attendees will be in for a treat again!
As before, the event is being run on a not-for-profit basis and early bird tickets are keenly priced at £20. It’s being held at Southsea coffee shop Hunter Gatherer on Albert Road once again.
The tasting starts at 7pm, however, attendees are welcome to come along earlier with a cash bar selling local craft beers and vegan burgers from 6pm onwards. To buy your tickets, go to Hunter Gatherer’s website here.
