Last year was an exciting time for Bay Coffee as Dave launched his beautiful camper called Ernie and fitted it with the coolest coffee equipment, serving hot drinks from September 2023. He greeted all commuters as well as loyal customers down on Goldsmith Avenue, in all kinds of weather and we all became familiar with the yellow campervan. You can read more about this here.
Having worked through one of the wettest winters on record, it only seemed fair to allow Dave to find somewhere with a bit more shelter. Welcome to Southsea, Bay Coffee, residing at the Slaughterhouse. Located at Burgoyne Road, which is a short walk from the seafront, this new location is a perfect pit stop for coffee and bakery delights on that side of town.
Setting up at The Slaughter House
Opening from 7am until 1pm, 7 days a week to begin with, this cool space offers some real delights and is not just for coffee lovers. This morning I had a wonderful Turmeric Latte and Bay Coffee offers a wide range of caffeine-free options.
Thinking about how the camper offered nice baskets of bakery delights, the Slaughterhouse venue has a cool concrete counter to show off the daily food on display.
The Interiors are white with a real contemporary, industrial edge, from the stone floor to the slick concrete counter, you get a nice feeling as you walk through the door.
There is New Coffee Equipment
Although Ernie the camper still has the nitro tap at the back of the van ready for events, Dave has invested in all new equipment for the new coffee destination. He has fitted a new nitro tap, ready to serve you a cold brew.
If you haven’t had a Bay Coffee cold brew before then it is worth a try. Using nitrogen with a single Rwandan coffee shows off a new style of drinking as the process brings a sweeter flavour. It also brings a creamy texture and velvety feeling with every mouthful
No Caffeine
Lovers of caffeine-free coffee can delight in Bay Coffee’s effort to bring a cool alternative to the counter. The Mountain Water coffee process is a natural and environmentally friendly method for removing caffeine from the beans. Using this process preserves the incredible flavour of the coffee beans. The result means that all Bay Coffee decaf drinks taste just like regular artisan coffee. Offering a chemical-free option means you don’t miss out on taste and don’t get a headache from the chemical process that can sometimes happen with removing the caffeine.
Make sure to swing by and support Dave; although Ernie isn’t there, he will still be around for Bay Coffee’s events over the warmer months.
