It’s World Book Day time again! If you’ve got children, you may see them coming home from school shortly clutching a token that entitles them to a free book – and we’re very pleased to say at Pigeon Books we’ve got them ready to go!
There’s a great selection of £1 books (or free with the token) by fantastic authors including David McKee, Louie Stowell, Rosie Jones and Rob Biddulph. Don’t fancy any of the range of £1 books? Use your token for £1 off a full-priced kid’s book instead – we’ve got plenty of those already.
We’ve even got a bunch of WBD pin badges if you really want to show off your love of reading.
It’s a tough time for indie bookshops (and independent business in general) and events like World Book Day, Indie Bookshop Week in June and Bookshop Day in October are a fantastic way to remind people that bookshops exist and we’re all just doing our best in the face of incredible competition from supermarkets and the obvious online giants.
In other exciting news – another big champion of indie bookshops, Richard Osman, has just announced the first in a new series of books, due out in September – it’s called ‘We Solve Murders’ and although it’s a new series and a new story, if you enjoyed the ‘Thursday Murder Club’ series we’re sure you’ll love this one too.
