This Saturday is Bookshop Day! We hope that most of the people who come and visit us regularly at Pigeon Books are very aware of bookshops and how important they are, but it’s lovely to remind everyone anyway – and Bookshop Day and Independent Bookshop Week in June are both excellent ways of bringing bookshops to people’s attention.
We’ve decided this year to go all out – so everything in the shop is going to be 10% cheaper for Bookshop Day! (There’s a few T’s and C’s and exclusions as usual, but it’s basically everything. And who doesn’t like cheaper things?)
The beautiful ‘Books Are My Bag’ tote bags, produced every year with a different artist, will also be on sale – this year they’re designed by Poonam Mistry and are in extremely limited supply, so don’t hang around if you want one.
We’ve also got a bunch of tote bags filled with goodies, proof copies and previews to give away to the first few lucky people who want them. And we’ll be restocking the super-popular ‘Blind Date With A Book’ shelves since you lot cleared them out in record time the last time we did them!
We hope you’ll all come and support us if you can – these last few months have been tricky at times as a small business, so don’t hesitate to start getting your Christmas orders in too and beat the rush nearer the time – it was lovely to hear so many people last year saying they were trying to do all of their Christmas shopping locally and in indie shops, because as we’ve all seen over the last couple of years with even the larger chain stores struggling to survive – if you don’t use the shops you claim to love, then you’ll lose them!
