I love this lead-up to Victorious and as there’s only 12 more sleeps until it begins, it got me thinking. I have my tickets sorted, I have my playlists set up so I just need to sort my outfits for the wknd.
Looking at this year’s trends and the fact that Barbie has had a huge influence over the Summer, means you can expect a lot of cowboy themes and pink! Anything with fringes on is popular like jackets, denim shirts etc and cowboy boots are a huge hit along with cowboy hats. I personally think it would be cool to see some guy walking around the festival in the fur that Ryan Gosling wore during the film but I do appreciate it might be a bit hot for that.
Other trends according to Vogue are metallics like 90’s rave wear and also hiking gear! I might have to route out my metallics range for Pete Tong on the Friday night!
When heading to a festival, I really like clothing that stands out from the crowd and has an individual look. I always love wearing trainers as they are so comfy for all that walking around the site. You would be so surprised how many steps you walk across to the toilet and in between stages you want to see. As I have a bit of time to reflect on my outfits from last year and browse what I might fancy for 2023, it got me thinking of my love of vintage and how it can be so cool to plan a vintage piece. I caught up with Lizzie from Boheme Betty to talk about her vintage collections and what her thoughts are on festival clothes.
Boheme Betty is a vintage shop that offers designer and preloved items that have been carefully curated to sit beautiful on a rack, waiting for you to buy. Lizzie is so clever and stylish and brings a real sparkle to outfit ideas.
Why I love Boheme Betty?
Lizzie has original ideas and always manages to stock one-off pieces that just oozes style and confidence.
Hi Lizzie thanks for the chat……
Are there any new trends as far as festival outfits this year?
Fairly certain Barbie Mania will be everywhere this year. Think cowboy boots and pink everything!
Is there always a staple you will go back to wearing every year?
Jumpsuits. I love a jumpsuit for festivals. Throw over a massive flouncy dress add a sh*t load of glitter (biodegradable all the way obviously) and you’re good to go!
What is your favourite thing about festivals?
People dress however the hell they want… I mean I do this on the regular. But it’s great to see it more mainstream. Plus glitter should be worn on the daily in my opinion.
Business meeting = add glitter
Trip to Tesco’s = add glitter
Eye bags = add glitter
Boots or trainers?
This is tricky. I love both! If I really had to pick one it would be trainers. I’m still here for the princess dress and dad trainer look.
How did you get into vintage wear?
I’ve been into fashion since I was a wee girl. I went to art college and think I can say with a fair amount of certainty, I wore a different outfit every single day. Over the years private selling has evolved into a business. I love that every day through dressing alone you can pick who you want to be!
Do you have any stock that any readers can buy from you?
I sell regularly via story sales on my Instagram – Boheme.Betty I post worldwide. I like to sell via Vinted. Also exciting news, I have an amazing pop up due to start on Wednesday the 16th August at Gunwharf Quays for a whole week!
Head along and see Lizzie at her pop up shop for the next week from Wednesday onwards and honestly you are sure to find an individual classy thing to wear for Victorious.
