Recently, there was a makeover day at Budd’s Apothecary on Albert Road with the make-up and skincare specialists Inika Organic and I popped along to see the clients have a makeover and also discuss the products. Having first found out about this brand while visiting the shop in Southsea when Wendy first introduced the brand to the store, I liked the ethos behind the brand.
Inika is an organic, vegan and 100% natural brand of cosmetics and skincare. Their products are completely free of synthetics and use highly sustainable packaging that can be recycled. They have the highest level of natural and organic certifications so when you see all these logos on their promotions, you can be assured that they stick to their ingredient promise.
I chatted to the local rep in between the clients popping in and asked about favourite and top-selling products.
One of the best-selling products you can buy from the stand in the apothecary is the organic primer which is soothing with aloe vera and has liquorice and willow bark extracts. It keeps excess oil away and helps makeup last on the face all day! Priced at £38 it is a product that will last a long time and has a high star rating on the website.
My favourite makeup product has to be the eyeshadow! It blends in so smoothly, even with my wrinkles and its high pigment content means that when you apply it, there is longevity to your look and it won’t fade fast!
I also like the organic lip crayon that is award-winning and lasts a long time being more of a pencil style. With 6 colours to choose from and the fact it won the gold winner in the Pure Beauty Awards London means you won’t be disappointed with this choice!
It is always hard to swap your make-up over to a new brand so I advise you to visit Wendy and her team at the shop and take a look at the brand yourself. I think it is good to pick out a few products that you use regularly like lipstick, a bronzer, or a face oil and see the difference in the quality and mineral content compared to your usual brands.
Having been an eyeshadow fan since my teens I love the quality of this make-up and also love how many times it has won national awards. I think the fact that it has so many NO’s in its branding which covers 21 ingredient promises means what you are putting on your face is strictly all natural and organic. I asked Wendy what was one of her favourite products and she said she genuinely loved the mineral setting powder as she believes it is lightweight and blends across the skin smoothly.
Seeing there was a foundation trial set I thought it would be good to have a play with this before deciding on switching my foundation over to Inika and liked how it has 4 products to try in the pack. Sitting neatly together is a trial size BB cream, radiant glow veil, a loose mineral foundation and a trial size liquid foundation. Priced at only £12 means you can have a good test of the products before deciding on a new brand.
Have a pop into Budd’s Herbal Apothecary to view the make-up product range and see how good the brand is. Open Tuesdays to Saturdays and with a lovely team to help you, It is nice to support your local independent.
