There is nothing quite as festive as visiting a Christmas market and even better when they are full of independent businesses bringing a handmade touch to the event.
Here is a list of my favourite markets that are happening in December.
Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd December -Staggeringly Good – Fratton
Staggeringly Good know how to do a Christmas market as much as they know how to make beer. I can’t wait for this! Last year was so lovely, full of families all enjoying food, beer and buying gifts!
There will be; LIVE MUSIC, BRASS BAND, CRAFT BEER , SPIRITS , WINES CIDERS , FOOD , MINCEPIES , COFFEE *,CAROLS , MULLED WINE ,GIFTS, ,ART , CRAFTS , BOARDGAMES , TOYS.
Some of my favourite creatives will be there, Hip Pip Hooray who specialises in acrylic jewellery will be happily greeting customers and there will be many other cool stalls.
All ages welcome. A dog friendly site. Some stalls will be located in areas only accessible by stairs. Vegan & vegetarian food options available
Saturday 2nd and 3rd of December Hotwalls Studios Christmas Market – Old Portsmouth
Hotwalls is always a lovely place to walk and feel in the festive mood. With 34 stalls all filled with amazing creatives plus a live brass band and carol singers, this will be so nice to wander around! Like there has been in the past there will be performance art too. All the studios along this stretch will be open and fresh crepes and amazing coffee from The Canteen will be happening. What is not to love?
Open 10am – 4pm
Saturday 9th December and Sunday the 10th – We Create Market – Cascades Shopping Centre – Portsmouth
From the first market that ever happened back in 2020, this curated market created a buzz in the independent community like no other. Full to the brim with talented creatives, designers and makers all bringing a special touch to town, this market is one not to miss!
Can you believe there will be the opportunity to shop 52 independent stalls featuring a diverse range of holiday gifts. You will also be able to admire the exhibition of local art and products displayed in the shop’s window.
There will be a vibrant atmosphere with live local performances throughout the weekend.
Times: Saturday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM & Sunday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Venue: Former Dorothy Perkins at Cascade Shopping Centre
Saturday the 9th and 10th December – Castle Road Christmas Market – Southsea
There is something magical about Castle Road at Christmas as it has all the lovely independent shops, and it has a great selection of cafes and eateries on this stretch that really make an effort to make us feel festive. I always love the effort that Delaney’s put in to the road and of course Pie and Vinyl really pull out the stops bringing us warm pies with a huge range of fillings. Hot drinks as well as wine and spirits will be happening on the street and last year there was mulled wine being offered to visitors.
Bringing a traditional touch to Castle Road Christmas Market, there will be lots of stalls supporting our independent businesses, the market will be hugely popular.
Saturday 9th December 11am – 4pm
