Lots of people like to go to their local pub on New Year’s Eve and wait for the countdown to the new year and that’s a lovely thing to do but sometimes you want something a bit quirky. That’s where living in an area that has cool independent places that step in and bring a buzz about town makes it fun to live here.
Croxton’s Palmerston Road 7pm until 12.30pm
When Croxton’s announced they were holding a hip-hop NYE party, I was impressed, when they announced fried chicken and champagne on arrival for pre-paying guests, I thought it was a super cool idea to come up with.
There are still some places left for NYE which you can get here. Paying £15 gets you in and gets you tasty chicken and a glass of champagne up until 9pm. You can enjoy DJ Brendan playing his hip hop from 7.30pm until 12.30pm. For those wanting to decide last minute, you can arrive at the door, and for £5 you can enter and enjoy all the music and hit the bar!
Yes, the kitchen will be closed but the back bar certainly makes up for that with a wide range of cocktails and the premise’s own brand ‘Shant’ on tap to delight customers. If deciding on paying on the door, get down early to avoid disappointment.
Staggeringly Good Brewery 7.30pm until 1am
The other quirky independent bringing an NYE vibe is Staggeringly Good Brewery at Fratton. Offering a £6 entry fee, this allows entry and a place to hang out with friends and loved ones. I love their slogan when promoting the evening…. ‘Exactly what it says on the tin… a New Years Eve Piss Up In A Brewery.’
This dinosaur-loving brewery is excited to bring a great craft beer list, throw out some chilled vibes and allow customers to order in a take away! If you have been lucky enough to grab a ticket to this event then good on you!
The Wedge – Wedgewood Rooms Albert Road 8pm until 1am
For the ultimate NYE indie experience, look no further than the Wedge bringing an amazing party atmosphere, amazing sound and lights, and always an amazing audience!
All night it will feel like an Indie Disco playing with 19 Forever band bringing all the hits. You can guarantee at least 50 songs with some real Brit Pop favourites thrown in for good measure. Grab a ticket here with £15 entry fee and under 14’s to be accompanied by an adult.
Whatever you choose to do, whether that’s stay home with friends and raise a glass or cuddle up on the sofa with your kids, or head on out across town, have a blast and see you in 2024.
