What a weekend planned for the 14th and 15th July with the Southsea Food Festival. It’s been going now for 12 years, run by the council and has grown each year to be such a great event with a buzzing atmosphere. Offering a real celebration of food for the whole 2 days, it is a chance to see the local food businesses we have step outside of their shops and produce some really mouthwatering festival food! With over 60 stalls and lots planned for both days, if you love food and a touch of gin you know it is somewhere you need to head down to.
Some of my favourite food businesses are going to be there, with Need Street, KST and Andres Food Bar, not only will there be such a fantastic choice but also very reasonably priced which is what I love. Chatting to Lou from Love Southsea we caught up and talked about everything food and drink, with the excitement that there will be the Gin Emporium pouring up some amazing gins to choose from. An acoustic music stage is going to be provided by the Wedgewood Rooms, with artists playing on both days. Well, it all goes hand in hand, doesn’t it? Food, drink and music, ooh let’s not forget the sunshine with another scorcher looking likely.
There will be a kitchen stage hosted by Community Chef Robin Van Creveld who will demo healthy food easily replicated at home using local in-season produce. Local chefs will be on stage showing off their culinary skills!
In the precinct on Saturday, Love Southsea food market will be there with an eclectic mix of street food to eat, plus Hampshire Farmers are there on Sunday presenting local, in-season produce. You may catch a glimpse of the Lord Mayor on Saturday and with an atmosphere that is perfect for all the family starting at 10am until 5pm, it looks set to draw in the crowds.
Danny (who if you follow our blog regularly will know loves food and also loves to write about it) is going to be there! I can’t wait to read what she has to say after this wknd, have a great time whatever you do.
