The girls from Southsea Spirit have done it again! Having built up a strong brand and created a gin that has been well-received and loved by the community, Harriet and Lauren have now opened their very own bar. You can read about their journey here.
Where is the Bar
Situated at 112 Albert Road where the Beer Muskateer used to be, the bar has had an extensive renovation to be able to open to the public. Opening in the week for coffee and light snacks, Southsea Spirit is the perfect place for those working away from the office to get creative and take advantage of the super-fast wifi. By evening, the bar plans to have a tempting cocktail menu to hand and also have selective music like funk and disco plus DJ sessions on wknds. They also plan to team up with their neighbours, Southsea Sound for open mic nights and other live gigs.
Chatting to Hariett, she said, “We have loved taking Southsea Spirit to the next level and our lovely blue and orange colours of the branding and gin bottles accentuate all through the new bar. We can’t wait to open the doors and invite customers to come and chill and feel the vibe of what Southsea Spirit is all about. We love that we could sit on Albert Road amongst other great independents and look forward to some great collaborations over the coming months!”
Opening the Doors
It has been lovely to have a tour around the place just before the grand opening and I love how far back the bar goes. Having an extensive back room all set up for workshops, gin tasting sessions and of course some serious collabs, makes this place ooze style. The back doors in the back room are made of old Edwardian wardrobes and the whole interior has a quirky, industrial style that shouts eclectic.
I love the finishing touches like the tables that look handmade and the pink loo. The outside has a cool little secret garden feel which links to Southsea Sound and the concrete worktop finishes the whole look of the bar. Having accents of black in the back areas, and lots of art and plants brings out the character of the building.
Having worked in the hospitality industry for about 15 years, both girls know a thing or two about a good cocktail. Hatty said that she loved that they can take their very own gin to help create some pretty cool drinks on the bar.
Independent Spirit
Hatty said, “Southsea Spirit is a community-focused neighbourhood bar nestled in the heart of Southsea. Our goal has been to create a space where locals can gather, bond and make lasting memories. With a focus on top-notch craftsmanship and unique offerings including quality cocktails, handpicked wines and craft beers selected by our good friend @twothirdsbeer. Southsea Spirit goes beyond being just a bar, it’s a celebration of our vibrant neighbourhood spirit.”
My favourite cocktails I am going to try that are on the menu this week are:
Paloma Picante and Tommy’s Margarita.
Head along to Southsea Spirit this wknd and check the cool bar out for yourself!
