There is a new neighbourhood store in town and it sits right in the middle of Elm Grove. Stay Lucky Southsea opens on Thursday the 11th of July, from 8am until 6pm.
Open 7 days a week from 8am, this well-merchandised gift shop aims to bring joy to Southsea with a huge range of cool gifts, cards, gift wrap and also a coffee bar where you can grab a coffee and go. The design of the snacks and drink cans is as important as the products sold on the shop floor, so look out for Hip-Pop cans and Salty Dog crisps.
Moon Roast Coffee is being served up on the counter and the company are independent as well as local, roasting their beans out in rural Hampshire. it is nice to see that the owner and management of Stay Lucky want to work closely with cool brands and local suppliers. Moon Roast started as a family affair with a coffee roaster in a barn out in the backyard that has developed into a full-time business. They proudly work with small-holding farmers and have huge values around sustainability, making sure they pay the farmers a decent price for their coffee. So you are not only getting good coffee but the story about the coffee is a good one!
There will be a range of bakery delights to tempt you to go with your coffee! Think of cookies you can dip in your hot drink and you get the idea!
Speaking to Jim Cox the owner of the new shop, he said, “I wanted to open a shop in Southsea having visited the area over the last year. I have family here and having worked in the gift industry for 20 years, I saw a real opportunity in this area.”
Speaking of his history, Jim said, ” I own a company called Luckies of London and wanted to have the name Stay Lucky. I feel Southsea is an area that could benefit from more independent businesses and has already gained a reputation for being somewhere people like to come and visit. Having the seafront and lots of cool places to eat really draws in customers. I feel that Stay Lucky is here to enhance the gift shops Southsea has already and will bring a staple to Elm Grove.”
With brands like Magpie who have collaborated with mid-century pottery brand Hornsea and brought out some iconic designs, Stay Lucky are pleased to be a part of that rejuvenation of British design that offers a timeless appeal and showcases that to shoppers.
You can look forward to candles and all kinds of gadgets. Fun gifts to buy and an excellent collection of well-being products. My favourite things at the moment are the rude soaps and great design cards from Ohh Deer. There’s gifts for all prices and ages so pop by from Thursday where on the first day there will be 50% off coffee all day.
