Summer has finally arrived and we all know that Southsea comes alive during this time of year. Even though I created my June Highlights at the start of the month, this wknd has a lot of cool things happening so I felt the need to share.
Saturday 22nd June – Pigeon Books – Meet Kate Moss
The famous author is heading to Southsea this Saturday to greet customers and fans of her books and see what it is like to be an independent book seller. Join Phil, Mel and Kate in the bookshop where the author will be signing her new book, The Ghost Ship.
Saturday 22nd – Refugee Week – Southsea Common – Variety of Arts and Culture
Ending an action packed week, Refugee Week has a fun filled day on the common with a mix of arts, culture, music and lots more.
Join 432 Nomads from 11am on the Southsea Common play area and be part of the awareness and celebration for peace, unity and mutual respect.
Sunday 23rd June – Aspex Gallery – Refugee Closing Event
From 12pm you can head down to the gallery and join in the celebrations of a diverse week filled with community spirit. Learn more about the refugee experience and show your support.
Aspex Gallery are pleased to be offering an event filled with art, music and fun.
Saturday and Sunday 22nd/23rd June – Live at the Bandstand – Castle Field
The weather is amazing and a perfect time to grab a picnic and rug then head on down to Castle Field. Go listen to some fab music that’s free and brings all the vibes.
Saturday 22nd June – Croxton’s Breakfast Club – Palmerston Road
Croxton’s has brought out a new menu; as always, the food is top-notch. The Breakfast Club is happening on Saturday morning from 9am until 11.30am. With the weather being so nice you can swing by and eat before heading out for some serious weekend fun!
The kids breakfast is £4.95 with a fab choice to choose from and I am loving the ‘Smokey Smashed Avocado on Toast’ with options to add on but there is an extensive menu to choose from.
The famous festival has hit the island and there are still tickets. You could still grab yourself a day ticket for £120 so if you feel like you missed out on Glastonbury and are feeling the festival fever, now is your chance to join in the music vibes this weekend.
There is lots to enjoy at this festival not just the music but the food and the atmosphere. Pet Shop Boys headline Saturday night with Keane playing first and Sunday has Green Day with Simple Minds supporting them.
A ferry over to the island is short with Wightlink Ferries offering a good price for foot passengers heading across to Ryde. There is usually a gin bar waiting for you when you arrive so that’s a good way to get the festival party started.
