The Makers Guild are firm favourites of Southsea Folk bringing so much for crafts people, designers and engineers. Providing facilities to be able to make, support, innovate and collaborate allows for a very creative hub.
They have a ceramics exhibition at the Round Tower down at Hotwalls in Old Portsmouth on Friday 19th of August 5pm – 8pm (PV) until Sunday the 21st August with the wknd hours opening from 10am until 4pm which showcases work by Portsmouth Pottery and all work made on the island. Everything that has been created allows the public to buy displays, meet the ceramicist behind the work but also get stuck in and try a potter wheel for yourself!
At the exhibition, you can expect to see a range of designs from sculptures, plant pots, homeware and dinnerware including an arrangement of bowls, plates, cups and mugs. With the opportunity to purchase a select few and view an array of these handmade and elegant pottery pieces, come and support our local and inspiring ceramicists.
Along with this, there will be the chance to experiment on one of the throwing wheels and try your hand at creating some pinch pots. If you have the time, why not catch a glimpse of the talented ceramicists demonstrating their favourite techniques.
From any creative level, whether you’re a beginner or a pro, discover a new sense of excitement with the unique pottery classes running at the Omega Centre. These can be booked on our website at www.makers-guild.com/classes
With an open access membership to enable people of all skill levels to use the studio means the space that was an old victorian school is tailored to allow intermediate skilled and high-level skilled individuals to operate independently and as part of a broader ceramicist community.
Pop down there this wknd for a browse and potter!
