Portsmouth Printmakers are exhibiting recent work at Jack House Gallery in Old Portsmouth starting on 6th October until the 16th, this is their first exhibition since July 2019. Previously known as Omega Printmakers, the group will be showcasing new prints, made within the last year, using a variety of print techniques.
Portsmouth Printmakers is dedicated to helping local printmakers on their journey, whether they are right at the very beginning of that road or they have travelled far on their own. Offering support and continued assistance allow for the growth of our local printmakers in the city! Speaking of their work they said “There are many talented and inspirational members of the Portsmouth Printmakers both new and old, who continue to produce beautiful and unique prints. We are a collective, we love sharing ideas, methods, and techniques for doing different things.”
Previously under the name of the Omega Printmakers, this proactive community of artists have held regular local exhibitions to showcase the work of their members. Some have also taken part in national and international shows. Including; Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, The Discerning Eye, Mall Galleries, Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, National Original Print, and Bankside. Starting out at The Omega Centre which was built in 1881 by the Portsmouth School board, the group is now part of The Makers Guild and aims to extend the community to a wider area and celebrate printmaking together as Portsmouth Printmakers.
I attended the PV opening last night and there are so many pieces I wanted to buy! I fell in love with 'Portsdown Hill' by Deb Dodsworth and also 'Seen unseen ii' by Sally Tyrie. Well worth a visit so make sure you pop down and show your support!
