The Southsea Food Festival is back even bigger and better than last year! It is always organised by Portsmouth City Council and returns this weekend on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17 July 2022, packed with over 40 stalls offering goodies from some of the best food and drink producers in the area.
Food lovers will be able to browse, sample and buy a wide range of products including sausages and bacon, pies, afternoon tea, chocolate, cheese and even Portsmouth rum.
Some of the traders include;
Portsmouth Distillery, Top Gun Catering, Sourdough Bakery, Staggeringly Good Brewery, Spice Island Chilli, Fries Love, Valencia Paella, Carla's Cakes, Yarty cordials, Arepa to Go, Gyroland and Southsea Spirit.
As we all know from last year, the outside seating area on Palmerston Road has a great Summer vibe and that will carry on over the wknd with huge support across the whole event for Independent businesses! Love Southsea market is on the Saturday and then Hampshire Farmers market on the Sunday means you are in for a huge treat with a chance to eat, drink, listen to music and buy some cool things to take home.
This year the event covers a bigger area, taking in Palmerston, Clarendon and Osborne roads and Avenue De Caen. Stalls will be placed to allow plenty of room for safe browsing. There will be some local road closures in place. Live music will be brought to the precinct by the Wedgewood Rooms featuring local musical talent, family entertainment, plus loads of great tips from industry experts.
Sponsored by the Queen's Hotel, this year’s event is set to be even more of a success! Head of Pastry Chloe Barter from the hotel said she loves the alchemy that results from mixing simple ingredients to create mouth-watering teatime treats. Visitors to Portsmouth's ultimate food event will be able to sample her “afternoon tea in a box”.
Chloe said: “We want to give visitors to the Southsea Food Festival a taster of what our afternoon tea is all about. I love the fact you can take simple ingredients like milk, butter and flour and depending on the way you mix them you can create so many different things – I love the variables. To me choux pastry is a beautiful thing – and then there’s a macaron. Simple ingredients and together they make something incredible,”
Being a huge foodie,I love this event for browsing and trying local food stalls and taking in the atmosphere which always makes me feel like it’s definitely Summer in Southsea! I also love how this event is FREE for everyone to enjoy and how much effort the council puts in for this cool event.
