Interior Influencers

Walking the breadth of Southsea looking for all the interior shops you can visit in one day was so much fun. Then I thought about the interior influencers we actually have that live on our doorstep and what their thoughts were on interior trends and design so I could share all this info with you lovely people. So I spoke to 3 wonderful influencers in interiors right now and this is what they had to say.

Interior Trail 2

Albert Road has a vibe all of its own and describing it as an earthy, urban stretch is just the start. From quirky coffee shops to hair studios that keep their location a secret, lots of fun can be had here. My Interior Trail starts again at the top of the road, in Tango Tea. Talking to Jenni you begin to understand that this place was the beginning of all the eclectic shops we see around this area. Coming from Lancashire, Jenni said she was always one for not following the crowd and had her own style from a very young age.

Having moved to Southsea for all the independent businesses, the first thing that struck me was just how many interior shops there actually are! What I love about Southsea is that there's a lot packed into a relatively small area. For an interior enthusiast like me, you can spend an entire day covering all the shops and buying favourite items to take home. Over the last year living and working here, I have spent time getting to know the business owners and, having bought and trailed home with many items for my house, I thought it would be nice to put together an 'Interiors Trail' and share my love of these shops.

Stuff Tailormade

Sam Tuffnell is one of these guys who was just born to be outside, working in overalls, working with his hands and generally getting dirty… you couldn’t imagine him in an office environment if you know what I mean. His furniture-making business S.Tuff Tailormade (see what he did there) allows him to do all these things and more. It’s a business that manifested very organically as a result of a few twists and turns and Sam told me all about it over a Matcha latte in Home Coffee.

The Southsea Abode

What better way to gather content for a feature than to chat to a really lovely bloke while he makes you tea and pampers you for three hours? I visited the new, yet to officially open, Southsea Abode salon last week for looooong overdue highlights and a cut.

Interiors Round Mirrors

Round mirrors have been a love of mine for over a year now but who is counting the days? The interior love for this item just keeps getting stronger every day. When you look at inspiring pictures to help you decide on a new room theme, one item that just keeps appearing is the round mirror.

Surviving January

Hounds Cool Art Space

Before Christmas, I went to an art exhibition in a barbers. It wasn't anything I had ever envisaged that I would do, but I had loved an artist named Roo Abrook from the moment I arrived in Southsea.
