March is a great month as the nights are getting lighter, Spring is on the way and bulbs are coming out. Tulips are lovely flowers to pop up and of course the daffodil which brings on the feeling of Easter. So here are a few of our favourite things to do this March. Whatever you do have fun!
8th March Is International Women’s Day and to celebrate Aurora is holding a special evening. If guest poets, writers and an open mic evening sound like your thing pop down to Albert Road. It costs £5.00 and looks to be a lovely evening!
8th March Sees a collaborative photographic event and exhibition called The Island City – Three Lenses. Held at the office of Stephen Morgan from 7pm until 9pm. Featuring work by Alex Slator, Jon Tyrell and Five Architects and hosted by Stephen Morgan.
9th March A new exhibition starts on Friday at the Play Dead Gallery on Highland Road. It is an Installation by Evagelia Hagikalfa and starts at 7pm. What we love about Play Dead Gallery is the outside wall how it always changes to match the latest exhibition. We can’t wait to see all the installation.
9th March Pie and Vinyl are celebrating British Pie week which is on until the 11th March. Showcasing different pies from all different suppliers and if you love making a pie you can make your best effort and take along for a bake-off style competition. On from 7pm until 9pm. The best overall pie will be judged in 3 categories: Meat, Vegan and Sweet. There are prizes up for grabs as well as the main winner walking away with a fabulous hamper!
18th March The Hotwall Studios showcase some of the city’s brightest creative talent. With a range of artists and designer-makers working in the studios, you will be able to watch artists and makers at work and purchase and commission professional pieces. Open from 11am until 4pm and with the Canteen cafe offering fabulous views of the water tucked in the corner there is every excuse to stop and have a bite to eat. The cakes in there are delicious!
18th March Nourishing Self Love Workshop is on at the Portsmouth Yoga where attendees explore what self-love is and how to create an inner peace by giving yourself time to pause and reflect as well as explore new ways of being kinder to yourself. 25th March Wild Thyme Wholefoods on Palmerston Road is holding the Great Southsea Bake Off so get your tins ready for this vegan cake competition, be it baked or raw. Your creation will be tested by Wild Thyme’s panel of cake-loving judges. On from 6pm until 8pm. Check out Facebook to advise of your attendance.
